The true Stars of the world..

Today was a total eye opener for me! Have you heard of the term "Street Ministry" and "Street Feeding"? After today, I've personally experienced and understand what it means!

A bunch of us under the obligation of community service assignment (I bet your having doubts why we suddenly turned social workers :P) We went to a Christian based organization, Malaysian Care to seek exposure for the social works outside. And later we also visited the few affiliated bodies, Street Fellowship near the Klang bus stop and Archdiocesan Office for Human Development, AOHD right next to St. John's ( so many years in SJI and I have no darn idea it existed xD ). Met Brother Paul, a formal pastor leading a church in Puchong which eventually turned full time into street ministry under Malaysian Care.

Street Fellowship, a sanctuary providing shelter for the street people (which includes the homeless, drug addicts or ex-convicts). Hey! Don't play play you know, professional counselors, lawyers, medical personnels and even their very own hair stylist! All volunteers providing free services with the love of God. On Saturdays, Street Fellowship also have food sharing sessions on Petaling Street giving out free food for the street people, must be a scene to look forward to!

AOHD, is a street feeding centre whereby only provides food for those in need. Everyday at 12pm, around a hundred plus street people gather around and have lunch together. Apart from that, the centre also helps the homeless wash their clothings. They call it the Welcome-Caring-Feeding Services. Its a place of fellowship and a good opportunity to spread God's love.

Its a sad thing that there are lots of people on the streets which cant even help themselves, though all these NGOs are set up to facilitate and aid these people with a heart of good will. But that doesn't mean it might risk these street people feel contended and not move on with life. Hmmm... There's still 15 hours left of community work for us to do!
