The Perfect Team!
It must have been the perfect combination of us trio that allowed us to present the best presentation of my life today! We were required to get to groups of 2s or 3s to prepare a presentation on topics allocated at the end of the semester.
This is how I get to know Esther and Caryn becoz we happen to be in a group! Hehe.. So yeah.. The point is that we made a near perfect team in as far as giving presentation is concern. Most of the time, I've usually been one of those group members that sucked in paperwork and reports, but capable of saving the whole team from presentations. I mean I could spontenously come out with craps that could seem convincing enough to mark up the overall marks from the relatively weaker public speakers of the team.. Our topic was "Discuss how Malaysian drop-in centers provide human services and compare it with the drop-in centers in the States."
But today was a total different experience as I was fortunately enough to be working with both Esther and Caryn! I mean they are really awesome! Let me introduce the special abilities of the perfect team!
*Drum rolls*
*Cymbal clashes*
1. First we have Caryn, the British slang Historian - I thought people like her only exist in movies.. She could practically tell you the history of any European countries from any age or period, naming every king, queen, ruler, and describe in detail what happen during which ruler's reign without refering to any books... Be it Spanish, Italian, England, Dutch etc etc... And the thing is you won't fall asleep listening to her.. Maybe lost in time and space... But that is only becoz of the amazement and the sense you have for her memory... XD If you don't stop her, she'll go on and on from the 13th century England history to thr early 18th century Indian History perhaps.....!!!
2.Next introducing Esther, the typical American Blonde slang - After coming back from the States for exchange, she has certainly cultivated their culture and way of talking.. Her knowledge and experiences during her stay there were a great asset to our topic! Having personally visited a drop-in center in Montana (dunno where it is? ask Esther.. She'll first show u a map of the States and points to you with her eyes closed) And she talks like an extremely animated bullet train, sometimes all the typical blonde actions will come out wan! haha
3.Last but not least, Jack Jack, the spontaneous comedian- Apply sarcastic and funny insults here and there between facts. A sense of humour that never fails to captivate the audience and together with the useful experiences from the social work and visitation to respective drop-in centers allowing me to be fully prepared and for once know what I'm actually talking about for a change rather than only bring laughters to the audience.
We were pretty worried that we will have lack of info to present as we only managed to talk for 16 minutes out of the 25minutes time slot that's required of us. But it seems that spontaneous people like us can't perform while practicing alone; the magic just happens on the moment we are actually on stage! We end up had overtime of 40minutes of non draggy, interesting and fun filled presentations! And the Q & A never seem to surprise us at all for all of us are well equiped with the advantage of personal experiences in the topic!
Caryn has done a wonderful job in relating the topic to the 16th century England history of friars and monks which founded the concept, leading the audience dazed in time.. Followed by Jack Jack's sharing of the Malaysian human services without failing to add in a pinch of sarcasism and dry humour in between... Backed up by the half American Esther herself in explaining how social work is done in the States and her personal visitations and involvements in drop-in centers during her time there. Lastly, the grand finale by Caryn once again concluding everything. It was superb! Why I would give our team a Distinction range mark myself! XD
Great working with a bunch of "professionals" unique in their own way, saving each other's butt thru the process! We totally out shone the rest of the presenters man! XD
